Its energy density ranks first among all lithium battery technology, about 250kWh/m3.

Safety is the main bottleneck of ternary lithium technology. Since the first Samsung battery explosion accident in 2016, the safety risks of ternary lithium batteries have been discussing. Due to the unstable compound structure of anode polymer, the increase in the temperature and pH value of the chemical solution in working batteries can cause potential risks of natural gas and eventually lead to explosion. In China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stopped using the application of ternary lithium batteries in electric vehicles and large storage projects. At present, the safety risks of ternary lithium battery technology have been conducting detailed investigations. Before the investigation was completed, the ban was still applicable.
