For residential Energy Storage System, the two main system coupling topology related to photovoltaic installation is DC coupling and AC coupling.
In the DC coupling system, the energy stored in the battery is voltage to a specific DC bus voltage, usually 400V. The system uses DC/DC converter to directly connect DC lines instead of converting DC into communication.
In the AC coupling system, the energy stored in the battery is directly supplied to the AC grid. In this case, DC/DC converter and AC/DC inverter need to be used.
Both systems must support two -way operations, absorb energy from the battery, and charge the excessive power to the battery.
