Large cylindrical battery is expected to break through the market

Under the Tesla phenomenal effect, the cylindrical battery, which is gradually declining in the automobile market, is again "turbulent".



A few days later, the 4680 non-polar ear (also known as full pole ear) big cylinder technology route was proposed for Tesla batteries. Following closely, a number of main engine manufacturers and battery enterprises accelerated their actions in the field of large cylindrical batteries.




On the application side, Tesla, Porsche, JAC, Dongfeng Landu and other passenger car enterprises have successively released clear application signals of large cylinder batteries. On the supply side, battery enterprises such as LG, Panasonic, Bike, Lishen, Yiwei Lithium Energy and Honeycomb Energy actively followed up the large cylindrical batteries including 4680.




As one of Tesla's three major power battery suppliers, Ningde Times is also actively laying out large cylindrical batteries, mainly targeting the two wheeled vehicle market. At the same time, it does not rule out that it will introduce large cylindrical batteries into the passenger vehicle field.




In the past few years, 18650 batteries have been gradually marginalized in the passenger car market. Since then, Tesla's 2170 cylindrical battery scheme has not been widely recognized by the market, and cylindrical batteries have declined in the power market.




The core reasons for the failure of 18650 and 2170 markets to gain a firm foothold in the new energy vehicle market are: first, domestic battery enterprises did not make deep breakthroughs in the technology of high nickel materials at that time, and the core technology of superposed nickel plated steel shell materials was controlled by Japanese enterprises, resulting in insufficient supporting capacity of the industrial chain. Second, the domestic square battery has obvious competitive advantages, and the soft package has made a breakthrough. The cylinder is facing a huge market encroachment. Third, in addition to Tesla, there is no large-scale market demand for other car enterprise terminals, and there are few supporting models, resulting in insufficient battery terminal drive.
