Battery maintenance

In fact, the battery does not have much attention to use, in other words, it is not very useful to take into account. How many times a battery can be used, the difference is more from the individual differences in battery manufacturing than the use method. In addition to the battery quality, the service life of the battery itself is limited. Once the battery is off the production line, its life begins to pass. Whether you use it or not, the service life of lithium battery is only two to three years. One of the important reasons for the decline of battery capacity is the increase of internal resistance caused by oxidation. Finally, the resistance of the electrolytic cell will reach a certain point. Although the battery is fully charged at this time, the battery cannot release the stored power. Many friends believe that the lithium battery should be charged for more than 16 hours for the first time, which can fully activate the battery. In fact, there is no basis for doing so. This is just a popular charging method for nickel metal hydride or nickel cadmium batteries, which is not applicable to lithium ion batteries. Because this kind of battery with lithium polymer as the core has no memory effect in theory, even if there is, it can be completely ignored. So it only takes about 3 hours to flush. If it shows that the charging is completed and the external power supply is not needed for the time being, you can unplug the power supply and do not have to wait so long.

Myth 1: The PSP needs to be charged and discharged three times to activate the battery. Unless the PSP you bought is a product that has been in stock for more than one year, you don't need to do this because the current battery cell has been activated when it leaves the factory, and the battery cell has undergone an activation test when it is packaged as a PSP battery. Therefore, the battery you get is already activated, and doing three more charging and discharging processes is just meaningless to increase the battery loss.

Myth 2: The first charge must last 12 hours. This is applicable to the NiMH battery equipment without battery control circuit in the early days, but it is a joke for the PSP with intelligent charge and discharge control module. When the PSP battery is fully charged, the charging current will be automatically cut off and displayed as "external power supply" in the system. Even if you continue charging for 120 hours, there will be no change in your state. Generally speaking, you will be fully charged in 3 hours, and the remaining "charging" will only waste your time. Instead, when you get a new machine, you should first discharge the power and then charge it.

Myth 3: The battery needs to be fully charged and discharged once a month. For NiMH batteries with strong memory effect, this is a necessary work, but for lithium batteries, this cycle is too frequent. In theory, lithium batteries eliminate memory effect, even if there is, it has greatly reduced the negligible degree. If you use the battery frequently, you should discharge the battery to a low level (about 10-15%) to recharge, but if you discharge the battery to a point where the machine cannot be turned on (0-1%), It belongs to the deep discharge with great damage to the lithium battery. Generally speaking, such operation can be performed once every two months. If you rarely use the battery, just do this once every 3 months.
